Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information the Homework for Grown Ups app and this website collect, why, and what your rights are. We collect as little as we can, we don't show adverts, and we never sell your data.
Who we are
Homework for Grown Ups is run by CALAROO LTD ("we", "us"). CALAROO LTD is a company registered in England and Wales, company number 14950225. Registered office: 167-169 Great Portland Street, Fifth Floor, London W1W 5PF. We are the data controller for your information.

What we collect

Your reminder time, text size, and sound and vibration settings are stored only on your phone.
We don't collect your location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers, and the app has no third-party advertising or tracking tools. This website doesn't use cookies.
Our legal reasons for using it
- To provide the service you've asked for (contract): your account, homework, marks and subscription.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping simple usage stats to improve the app, fixing reported questions, and keeping the service secure.
- Legal obligations: keeping records the law requires, such as tax records.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information or share it for advertising. We use a small number of companies to run the service, who only handle your information on our instructions:

Where information is handled outside the UK, we rely on UK adequacy decisions or on contracts approved for international transfers, so it stays protected.
We may also share information if the law requires us to.
How long we keep it
- Your account and homework data: until you delete your account. You can do this at any time in the app (Profile, then Delete my account), and it removes your account, grade, homework history and usage stats straight away.
- Question reports: kept after you delete your account so the question can still be fixed, but no longer linked to you.
- Emails you send us: up to two years.
- Backups: any backups kept by our providers are overwritten within about 30 days.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your information;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your information;
- limit or stop how we use it, including for usage stats;
- give you your information in a form you can take elsewhere.
Email privacy@homeworkforgrownups.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. There's no charge.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Homework for Grown Ups is written for adults and isn't aimed at children. You must be 16 or over to create an account. If you believe a child under 16 has an account, email us and we'll delete it.
Security
Your information is sent over encrypted connections, your sign-in details are stored encrypted on your phone, and only our server can read or change the database. No system is perfectly secure, but if something goes wrong that puts you at risk, we'll tell you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
